Cardinal Finance Corporation has promoted Janice Cross to vice president. Cross is a graduate of Polomar Community College and has over 35 years of administrative experience in financial services. She serves as executive assistant to the chairman, president and CEO and as an assistant secretary to the Board of Directors.

Noufal Hair Color Studio, a full-service salon in Vienna, is featured in the Color of Passion Volume 7 hair book. Noufal has five hair color styles in this edition. This is the fourth time Noufal Hair Color Studio has been featured in this beauty publication. To be featured in Color of Passion, a salon has to be invited and has to submit headshots. This annual publication features contemporary colored hair designs.

Nancy J. Norwalk has been promoted to vice president/director of training and Karen S. Denas to vice president of retail banking at Cardinal Bank. Norwalk is a graduate of both the University of Pennsylvania and Marymount University and active in MOMS ministry at St. Charles Church in Arlington. Denas has 25 years of retail banking experience and is a 30-year resident of Prince Charles County where she is active in the chamber of commerce.

Commonwealth Consultants Inc., an independently owned public relations firm in Vienna, announced that its foundation will provide one year of public relations services to Inova Kellar Center that will focus on overseeing the center's campaign to raise $4 million to build a new facility.

Inova Kellar Center, the only not-for-profit comprehensive mental health center in Northern Virginia, is launching the campaign to provide a multi-use center in Fairfax County that will host a wide variety of programs including mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, as well as education services.

Commonwealth Consultants Inc. donates 25 percent of their net income each year to the Commonwealth Consultants Foundation, which supports worthy charities, individuals in need and cutting-edge community organizations.

ImmixGroup Inc., a government technology business consulting and channel management company headquartered in McLean, announced that it ranked highest on Washington Business Journal's annual list of Washington, D.C. area small technology companies based on 2004 revenue, as published in the Oct. 14-20, 2005 issue. ImmixGroup also had the highest revenue per employee.

Cardinal Bank recognizes the promotions of Megan Aleshire and Cinda L. Ventura to banking officers. Aleshire is a staff auditor in the internal audit department who joined Cardinal in 2003 and is completing her BA at George Mason University. Ventura joined Cardinal in 2004 as an administrative assistant to the IT and Operations group and is active in the community. Additionally, Jon Elliott and Bradford K. Leiby have been promoted to branch managers. Elliott is a 17-year banking veteran who serves on committees in the community. Leiby won Cardinal's outstanding achievemnet award in 2004.

Carlos Miranda Gomez, a 2005 Davis Career Center graduate--a Fairfax County Public School, was named employee of the year at the Tysons Corner DoubleTree Hotel.

Amy Nichols, president and CEO of Happy to Be Here Inc., the franchise company of Happy Tails Dog Spa in Vienna has been named Enterprising Woman of the Year by Enterprising Women Magazine.

MorganFranklin Corp., a firm concentrating on technology solutions, management consulting and financial advisory services has relocated its headquarters from Herndon to a new location in Tysons Corner . The company signed a 10-year lease on 28,000 square feet of office space in the Pinnacle II Building at 1753 Pinnacle Drive. The new office, which occupies the top three floors of the building, is three times the size of their last office. The company currently employees 150 people, and with the move to their new office they anticipate hiring an additional 100 people over the next year.

Booz Allen Hamilton, the global strategy and technology firm, has been selected to support the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Operations. The five-year contract, which has a ceiling of $235 million, is for support services for all six program areas that fall under the Office of Operations, including reducing non-recurring congestion, reducing recurring congestion, improving day-to-day operations, creating a foundation for 21st century operations, enhancing freight management and operations, and improving emergency transportation management. The contract was effective Jan. 24.

Dynamics Research Corporation announced on Jan. 30 that Rich Vlaun has joined its Washington, D.C.-based Federal Solutions Group, located in Vienna, as vice president and general manager of homeland security programs. Vlaun will also be responsible for some Department of Defense work as DRC explores additional defense and healthcare opportunities. He joins DRC from Perot Systems, where he served as vice president and directed a $20 million multi-client, multi-functional business unit with more than 120 employees and subcontractors. Prior to joining Perot Systems, Richard was division director of engineering and design services for AMSEC LLC, a full-service supplier to the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the commercial maritime industry. Vlaun is a former career U.S. Coast Guard officer and directed the largest operational field command in the Port of New York and New Jersey.

First Horizon Bank will be extending their banking day, with 8 p.m. as their cut-off for deposits. Customers will receive same-day posting on all transactions processed in the financial centers Monday through Friday until 8 p.m.

Cardinal Financial Corporation has announced that Kendal E. Carson will be joining the company as President of the holding company. Mr Carson is the former President and CEO of United Bank of Virginia, which is headquartered in Tyson's Corner and Executive Vice President, United Bankshare, Inc., the holding company for United Bank. Carson will also be joining Cardinal Bank, the company's wholly-owned banking subsidary, as a senior executive officer. The company expects that Carson will assume his new roles in March 2006, when he completes his responsibilities with United Bank

Cardinal Financial Corporation also announced that its principal operating subsidiary, Cardinal Bank, has completed the purchase of certain fiduciary and other assets and assumed the deposit liabilities of FBR National Trust Company, a subsidiary of Friedman, Billings and Ramsey Group, Inc. This transaction is not expected to have any material impact on Cardinal FInancial Corporation's financial condition or operating results.

Cardinal's new Trust and Investment Services will act as trustee or custodian for assets in excess of $5 billion. Betsy Piper/Bach will join Cardinal as president of this new division. She was formerly Chief Trust Officer, Trust and Investment Services at FBR National Trust Company.

Chalk Inc. has been named exclusive eLearning solution provider for Digital Media Broadcast Corporation (DMBC). Chalk Inc. announced a three year strategic alliance with DMBC, a Virginia-based provider of niche digital broadcasts over a dedicated "Virtual Private Network". Whereby Chalk will become the exclusive provider of eLearning software, services and content to DMBC's clients.

Merrifield-based independent public broadcaster MHz Networks has launched Worldview, an internationally diverse, 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week program stream for public television stations. The new stream aims to attract globally aware viewers with a wide range of international programming blocks – world news, foreign affairs, international mysteries, world music, sports and foreign films – all in English or subtitled. The evening world news block features newscasts from Taiwan, India, Japan, France and Germany, with Bolivian and Russian news being added in March and pan-African news arriving by June. The World Music block features "Strictly Global," with videos from all over the world. The Emmy Award-winning "MHz Presents" features artists from all genres of music. Both "Strictly Global" and "MHz Presents" are MHz original productions. The international mystery block features iconic detectives from all over the world.

ImmixTechnology Inc., a McLean-based government technology reseller, and WebEx Communications Inc., a California-based provider of on-demand Web collaboration applications, have announced a partnership to help federal, state and local government organizations embrace the productivity gains, cost saving and information sharing benefits of Web collaboration. WebEx applications enable governmental agencies to leverage the Web to collaborate with the agencies, businesses and communities they serve. ImmixTechnology will manage the process of representing and maintaining WebEx solutions on the General Services Administration contract held by immixTechnology, facilitating the ordering process for government buyers. The company will also help increase government awareness of WebEx offerings available through immixTechnology.

McLean-based Communiqué Conferencing Inc., audio and Web conferencing service provider, was named "Best Webinar Solution" by Elearning! Magazine. Elearning! readers and industry professionals nominated and cast ballots for the best e-learning solution providers across nine product categories.

Michael Briglia has been named vice president of commercial banking at First Horizon Bank's Northern Virginia-based commercial banking team. Briglia will operate from the mid-Atlantic regional headquarters in Tyson's Corner. He brings 15 years of experience in business development to the team. His responsibilities will include providing commercial lending products and services including commercial deposit and treasury management services.
