“Mutual Inspirations,” a unique exhibition of etchings and encaustic paintings by Carolyn Witschonke. Inspired by two different media, Witschonke uses the imagery and similarity of effects from both paintings and prints to create images that reflect each other in content yet maintain the originality of each image. In Studio 325, Printmakers Inc., in the Torpedo Factory through June 30.

Uncovering Home: A Visual Essay on Jamestown Archaeology, a Jamestown Exhibit at City Hall through June 30. This special exhibition, created as part of the Jamestown 400th anniversary celebration, examines the remarkable discoveries made at the site of James Fort during the past decade. City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.

Liquid Color, Liz Lescault’s hand-crafted sculptural vessels are distinguished by their complex glazed surfaces in reds and oranges. Multiple glaze layers and firings create veils of transparent glaze which allows the viewer to look into a mirrored surface of liquid color. Through June 30 at Kelly’s Art & Frame, 510 N. Through July 2, the Enamelists Gallery, in Studio 28 of the Torpedo Factory, 105 N. Union St., presents “Foiled Again.”

Concurrent photography exhibits at the Multiple Exposures Gallery of the Torpedo Factory, 105 N. Union St., are “Listen to the Stream” by Roberto Kamide, and Valerie Makepiece’s “A Sense of Snow”. The shows run through July 3.

Platters of all shapes and sizes are the June show, on display through July 5, at the Scope Gallery, Studio 19 of the Torpedo Factory, 105 N. Common Threads at the Potomac Craftsmen’s Fiber Gallery, featuring many needlework techniques such as embroidery, sewing, needle lace and other creative forms. “The Civil Rights Movement in Virginia,” a traveling exhibition sponsored by the Virginia Historical Society, explores the Civil Rights Movement and its aftermath in Virginia. The Torpedo Factory’s Target Gallery presents “Show Me Your Metal,” through July 16. This juried exhibition features works in or about metal. Juror David Hess is a sculptor based in Baltimore. He has exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and his work can be seen at various locations including the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and the American Visionary Art Museum.

Through July 17, the Springfield Art Guild’s Annual Juried Show will be on display at George Washington’s River Farm, 7931 East Boulevard Drive. The show will feature original artwork of a botanical nature by members of the Springfield Art Guild.

The show will be exhibited on the lower floor of the estate house at River Farm, which is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge.
