A Front Royal woman turned herself in 10 days after shoplifting from a Sterling grocery store, according to the Sheriff's Office.
"She turned herself in late Thursday night," said Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kraig Troxell.
On June 5, Mandy Marie Thorpe, 27, was caught stealing beauty supplies from a Countryside Safeway and escaped from management before the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, officials said.
Thorpe allegedly stole more than $200 worth of beauty supplies from Safeway in Countryside Shopping Center on Pidgeon Hill Drive in Sterling. After allegedly being seen putting beauty items into her purse, she was detained by Safeway management. At approximately, 9:50 a.m. she escaped from management and drove away in a white vehicle.
Thorpe sped over a parking space block, a curb and a small median. She continued out of the parking lot and ran a stop sign.
Troxell said Thorpe was charged with shoplifting in excess of $200 and reckless driving. She was released by a Loudoun magistrate on an unsecured bond and was arraigned Friday morning.
