Crime Solvers

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the males who assaulted an elderly woman and robbed her of her purse. On Tuesday, May 23, the victim, a 76-year-old woman from the Oakton area, exited the JCPenny store at Fair Oaks Mall, around 5 p.m. As she walked through the parking garage, located outside the Hecht’s store, she was approached by two males. They walked past her then turned around to face her. One of them grabbed her purse while the other pushed her to the ground. Both fled on foot in different directions.

An investigation by police determined that the two suspects were caught on surveillance video on the mall property. Both suspects were white males approximately 6 feet tall. The first suspect was wearing a long, white baggy T-shirt and was bald. The second was wearing a black T-shirt, a black New York Yankees baseball cap with white stripes and jeans. He had a goatee.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the suspects involved is asked to call Fairfax County Crime Solvers. A $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information which leads to an arrest. As always, callers never have to give their names or appear in court. Call the Tip Line at 703-691-8888 or toll free at 1-866-411-TIPS. The e-mail address is: crimesolvers@fairfaxcounty.Gov
