<sh>SunTrust Bank Robbed

<bt>Shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, the SunTrust Bank at 515 Maple Ave., E., was robbed by a lone suspect, said Vienna Police Capt. Mike Miller. The man approached a teller and announced his intention to take money. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber then left the bank on foot.

"He didn't draw a lot of attention to himself," said Miller. "Our investigators, along with FBI investigators, are looking into it." The robber was described as a white male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with a medium build and blond hair.

Fairfax County has seen a spike in bank robberies in the last year. "They kind of run with the economic tide," said Miller, explaining that in times of widespread prosperity, bank robberies become rare. He said this marked the town's 14th bank robbery since 2002. During that time, there was one year in which there were eight bank robberies in the Town of Vienna and another year in which there were none.
