Welcome to the most desired City in Virginia. Whatever your reason for moving to the City of Fairfax, you have made an excellent choice.
Our City offers excellent opportunities for people of all ages; including top-rated schools for your children, lots of parks and open space to play and participate in sports. Empty-nesters and seniors enjoy many outlets by taking advantage of the programs offered by the city’s Spotlight on the Arts and our neighbor George Mason University. Fairfax is only a half-hour drive to downtown Washington where entertainment abounds.
If you enjoy history, we are a site with historic estates and buildings dating to the Civil War. The story of Fairfax and the war are played out on a daily basis with programs such as Civil War Days, Historic House Tours that are provided by the city’s Historic Resources Department and Historic Fairfax City, Inc.
The best feature of our city is its "small town feel." We know our neighbors and reach out to each other. Our Civic Associations are proud of their "spot" in the city and actively work to keep it safe and environmentally clean. Our downtown businesses’ are owned by our neighbors and know our needs. There is a place to worship for all denominations.
Welcome again — see you around town!
