The Sheriff’s Office is adding additional patrols in the Cascades area of Sterling after a suspicious man approached a 10-year-old girl riding her scooter, Monday, June 10.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kraig Troxell said a white male, described as being in his 50s, 6 feet tall with blondish-gray hair, approached the girl in an older, dark green car and allegedly asked her where he could buy scooter parts. The girl’s mother, who was nearby, approached the man and later contacted authorities.
"She thought he looked suspicious," Troxell said.
Troxell said there has been only one confirmed incident and two unconfirmed incidents in the neighborhood of Tanglewood Way off Algonkian Parkway.
"This is a precautionary measure," Troxell said.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the incident or a similar experience to call 703-771-1021.
