Members and friends of the Potomac Conservancy, a watershed river conservation group, gathered at Carderock Pavilion on Saturday for the organization’s seventh annual picnic. The event included a potluck dinner, activities for children, live music and the traditional water balloon fight. About 150 were expected.
“We’re the voice of the river,” said Matthew Logan, president of the Potomac Conservancy, which was founded 13 years ago. “We’ll do whatever it takes to protect the river and resources, from working with landowners for good practices on their property, to working with cities for use of the land. If someone is breaking the law and polluting, we’ll file suit if we have to.”
The Conservancy has 3,000 members, mostly from Montgomery County, Fairfax County and DC. Membership dues are $35 per year. Visit www.potomac.org or call 301-608-1188 for more information.
