SYA Spring Registration is now available online at www.syasports.org. SYA offers the following spring sports: Babe Ruth baseball, Little League baseball, T-ball, travel baseball, soccer, travel soccer, track and field, softball, lacrosse and volleyball. The 5th Annual Bulldog Bash Holiday Basketball Tournament is scheduled for Dec. 26-30. All games will be played at Westfield High School, Chantilly. In addition to the girls' field of eight teams, the Bash will feature a boys' bracket of eight as well. The boys field will include teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. The Loudoun Freedom AAU girls basketball organization will hold tryouts in Spring 2007 for girls basketball teams in the following age groups: U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, and U16. Tryouts will be held in late February or early March. Look for details as Spring 2007 approaches. The organization will also be in need of quality coaches for these teams. The 14th annual Pohanka Chantilly Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament will take place Dec. 27-29 at Chantilly High School. Sixteen teams from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina will be competing in basketball. Proceeds support the Chantilly Sports Boosters and benefit all high school sports programs. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children for a day pass. There will be a 3-Point Shoot Out daily, along with Damon's Fan of the Game Gift Certificate drawing.

Games begin at 9 a.m. daily followed by game-times of 10:45 a.m., 12:30, 2:15, 4, 5:45, 7:30 and 9:15 p.m. Call the Charger hot-line 703-448-4909 for bracket information. Individual and corporate sponsors are welcome and encouraged to call Wayne VanOster, co-director at 703-368-0327.

Bull Run Runners will host the first Annual 5K run on Sunday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. through the Festival of Lights at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville. The run will benefit Matthew's Center for Visual Learning — a school for autism and brain trauma. The center helps to transform children with autism by bringing them out of their shells. Team registrations are now being accepted for the Seventh Annual Women's Indoor Field Hockey Extravaganza Tournament scheduled for Monday, Jan. 15 in Hampstead, Md. Competition will be offered for the following age levels, Under 12 and Under 14 Middle School and Under 16 JV and Under 18 Varsity High School. The tournament will feature round-robin competition, with all teams being guaranteed a minimum of three (24 min.) games. The team registration fee is $265. The deadline for registration is Dec. 31. Westfield Rattlers U-14 Baseball Travel Team is seeking individuals for the spring/summer 2007 season. Opportunity for committed, experienced players who have aspirations to play in high school. SYA Fire, U-16 NCSL D3 is seeking experienced field and GK players for winter training and the Spring 2007 season. Looking for committed individuals who also enjoy an atmosphere that emphasizes team strategy, conditioning and smart play. During the winter off-season there will be indoor team training as indoor leagues. The team will practice only one day per week during the Spring 2007 NCSL season (in addition to weekend league games) and will participate in 2-3 tournaments. The ODFC Thunder (U15G, located in South Riding) is currently looking for quality players to compliment the roster for the Fall 2006 season. The Thunder is professionally trained by Soccer Performance International (SPI) and trains roughly eight months out of the year. Winter training includes indoor soccer and futsal. In addition to striving for success on the field, the Thunder family also enjoys their friendships off the field as well, with pool parties, paintball, field trips and much more. BRYC NV United (playing as U14G in ODSL) is looking for players for the fall season. They practice at Pine Ridge Park, Annandale and are looking for players who have a love for the game and who want to learn. Players and parents must commit to attending practice two times a week (a third practice is sometimes added) and games on the weekend. They participate in two to three tournaments a season and offer winter training. The coach holds a "D" license and works on tactics, movement, rhythm and teamwork.
