A financial aid planing seminar for prospective college students and their families will be presented Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Park View High School. Barry W. Simmons, director of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid at Virginia Tech, will be the featured speaker. The event, which will provided opportunity for questions and answers, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Park View auditorium.
Dominion High School Choral Department presents it's Winter Concert, Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m., in the school auditorium. Admission is free.
Horizon Elementary School's PTA received the Phoebe Apperson Hearst-National PTA Excellence in Education Partnership Award for 2005-06 Nov. 29. A representative from the Virginia State PTA presented the award in recognition of outstanding collaborative efforts with parents, families, educators, and community members to promote parent/family involvement in ongoing programs that encourage student success. Only one award is presented each year.
