Joanne Baker Schreiner of Great Falls, died on Aug. 15, 2006 at Reston Hospital Center. Joanne was the beloved wife of 58 years to Dr. George E. Schreiner; loving and energetic mother to George F. Schreiner of Los Altos Hills, Calif., Mary E. Schreiner of New York City, Meredith Maclay of Great Falls, Bill Schreiner of Reston, Sara Kendall of Tacoma, Wash., Peter Schreiner of Ojai, Calif., Lise Salmon of Mill Valley, Calif., and the late Robert Prince Schreiner. Joanne was the sister of Robert Baker of Santa Fe, N.M., Elizabeth Bloomer of Salt Lake City, Utah and the late William Baker. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren.
Joanne was the owner of Tall Wood Antiques in McLean and Great Falls. She was active in charities for numerous children's causes as well as efforts for the homeless.
Joanne was also an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Aug. 17 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.), 71 O St., NW, Washington, DC 20001.
