The Charles Barrett Elementary School PTA “Fool’s Day” Silent Auction & Raffle held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial Temple on Saturday, April 1, raised more than $18,000.
The event is the PTA’s largest fundraising event, with proceeds going to help a wide range of projects, including: field trips for students, playground equipment, classroom instruction enhancements, family literacy programs, teacher appreciation gifts and an annual donation to the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.
“Thanks to the generosity of Charles Barrett families, local businesses and other members of the community, we were able to exceed our goal,” said Jennifer Roda, co-chair of the event and Charles Barrett PTA president for 2006-2007.
In addition to raising money for PTA-sponsored projects, the evening also was an opportunity for parents and neighbors from the Charles Barrett community to visit. Mayor Bill Euille also was in attendance.
