First Horizon Bank announces the launch of “Super Star Savings,” a program aimed at educating parents, teachers and children about the life-long value of financial literacy. The program provides tips to parents on teaching the value of saving and encourages kids to learn the benefits of saving. By opening a new First Horizon savings account with an initial deposit of $25 or more, children will receive an additional deposit of $25 from First Horizon. Once a month with a deposit from the account holder, First Horizon will add another $5 to these newly opened accounts giving children the opportunity to earn up to an additional $60 in the first year. A “Super Star Savings” program will be hosted Oct. 29 at the McLean branch, 6661 Old Dominion Drive, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

OPTIMUS Corporation, which provides information technology services to government agencies, will invest $1.15 million to move its headquarters to Tysons Corner in McLean from Montgomery County, Md. The project brings 234 new jobs to the local economy. The company leased 17,900 square feet of office space at 7926 Jones Branch Drive. Eric Adolphe, the company's founder and CEO, was the 2002 Maryland High-Tech Council's Entrepreneur of the Year.

More than two dozen employees from McLean-based BearingPoint’s Homeland Security and Intelligence practice are participating in a 30-hour Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standard course designed to train citizens to be better prepared to assist emergency personnel during disasters, both natural and manmade. The training, conducted by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and the Fairfax County Citizens Corps, began Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Department’s Fire and Rescue Academy and will continue Saturday, Sept. 24. A final training exercise, to be held later this year, will evaluate an individual’s ability to respond and use their skills to assess structural damage and locate, treat and rescue victims until first responders arrive on the scene. The exercise with BearingPoint marks the first time training has been provided specifically to a county business. The effort coincides with National Preparedness month.
