River Falls Swim Club marked the end of summer Sept. 11 by letting its swimming pool go to the dogs. In an annual tradition, families gathered to celebrate the end of the swimming season with food and games before giving over the swimming pool to their canine companions, who got the last swim of the season.
The families thanked the River Falls life guards and swim coaches and students sold baked goods to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims while the dogs swam after tennis balls and toys.
River Falls members also gave donations for a memorial plaque to be installed in memory of Heather Joy Wilson, a beloved swim coach who died in December, 2003. See www.theheatherjoywilsonmemorialfund.com.
