To the Editor:
As I write this, it is a little over two weeks before Election Day, and I needed to obtain an absentee ballot. As is my usual practice, I tried to download the application from the City of Fairfax General Registrar's Web site. To my frustration, the links from that page to the State Board of Elections (SBE) Web site were broken.
When I contacted the City's Web master and he investigated further, we discovered that the SBE had changed the location of that form and that of the voter registration form without informing the local registrars.
At this point in the election cycle, why in the world would the SBE make such a move? I have to assume that it is either incompetence, or perhaps some kind of shenanigans to make it hard for voters to register to vote and apply for absentee ballots. In light of all the problems faced nationwide in recent elections, I think that this incident should be thoroughly investigated.
