The annual Herndon Homecoming Parade will begin Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9:30 a.m. This year's theme is 'Film Festival'. The parade consists of approximately 2,000 participants with over 50 units. The parade will form on Sterling Road, proceeding down Elden Street to Lynn Street passing the reviewing stand and the Herndon Municipal Center. The Treble Clefs, lead by Jean Goldsby, will perform as the parade approaches Town Hall Square and immediately afterwards while the judges finalize their decisions. Trophies will be awared in five categories — School, Civic, Performing Arts, Show, and Class Float. The Classic Vehicles will be judged and there are two overall awards — The Richard F. Downer Theme Award and the Major Robert E. Church Award. The Town Council and Police Chief Tossaint Summers will serve as judges. Contact parade chair at 703-421-8738.
