Families Play at Fun Festival

Browne Academy offers Fun Run, games, rides and crafts.

There was plenty of entertainment at Browne Academy’s Annual Fall Fun Festival and Third Annual Fun Run & Walk held on its campus this past Saturday.

“After a week of rain, we were blessed with a beautiful fall day which was perfect for the Browne families and community members who participated in our Third Annual Fun Run and spent an enjoyable afternoon at our Fun Festival,” said Mary Tobias, director of admission.

The day began with Browne’s 3K Fun Run & Walk, which started and finished on the campus of Browne Academy; the course included residential neighborhoods adjacent to the school. The female and male winners of the race were: Alexandria resident and Browne parent Mary Ryder (11:52) and Alexandria community member Ted Poulos (11:07). Browne also hosted a Toddler Trot for the younger children prior to the 3K race. This short run and walk took place on the hilly campus of Browne Academy. More than 75 Browne students and friends participated in the Fun Run and Toddler Trot.

“We welcomed runners and walkers of all abilities from throughout the surrounding Alexandria communities on Saturday,” said Susan Young, Chairperson of Browne’s Fun Run. “The Fun Run and Toddler Trot were activities full of loads of healthy fun for the entire family.”

After the 3K Fun Run and Toddler Trot, the Annual Fall Fun Festival kicked into high gear. The Fun Festival featured many games, rides, crafts, a book sale and a visit by ‘McGruff’ from the National Crime Prevention Council.
