The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, the Dulles Chapter, meets Nov. 28, 11:30 a.m., for lunch at the Amphora Diner Deluxe, 1151 Elden St., Herndon. Wilton Ward, Virginia Federation of Chapters, will discuss NARFE’s 20-year partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alzheimer Safe Return Program and recent research in Alzheimer’s disease. NARFE is collecting donations to fund Alzheimer research, and Olive Panzera, collecting the funds at the local level, will be available to accept donations. Reston Interfaith invites individuals and families to adopt a family this holiday season. Support Reston Interfaith families by giving gifts for a child through the Adopt-a-Family program. Orphan Foundation of America is a Reston-based organization that provides scholarships and offers mentors to parentless teens leaving foster care. Passionate individuals are needed to work on tasks including reviewing student and mentor applications, contacting applicants by mail, phone or e-mail, making files, etc. Volunteers are also needed to help with development by researching foundations and organizations, preparing solicitation packets and other tasks. Bookends, the Reston Community Center's senior book group, meets every fourth Thursday, from 12:30-2 p.m., at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods to discuss a variety of books.
