League of Reston Artists presents a Pencil and Pen Art Exhibit, through the University of Phoenix Northern Virginia Campus, 11730 Plaza America Drive, Suite 200. The exhibit, by the Colored Pencil Society of America, Poets Anonymous and Lake Anne Poets consists of 52 pieces of cross-medium inspired artwork, resulting from the collaboration between thirteen poets and thirteen colored pencil artists. League of Reston Artists presents its Annual Juried Theme Exhibition at Walker and Company in Reston. This year’s theme is “Edges,” featuring works of contemporary art by LRA members. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite work, the artist with the most votes will be awarded the People’s Choice Award. Warm Clothes from Warm Hearts clothing drive for new, warm, hats, socks and gloves for men, women and children. The application deadline for the Greater Reston Arts Center’s 15th Annual Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival is rapidly approaching. The juried festival is scheduled for May 2006. This year, GRACE has partnered with Juried Art Services, an online application and digital jurying process provider.
There are two ways to apply:
— Electronically. The electronic application deadline is Nov. 12, with a nonrefundable application fee of $40. A late fee of $25 must be included for electronic applications received between Nov. 12 and Nov. 20. The Elden Street Players present Conor McPherson's "The Weir", with performances at 8 p.m. through Nov. 19, and Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The play, set in a pub in Ireland, includes a series of ghost stories told by the barman, two regulars and a woman new to town. Three Perspectives on the Natural World, an exhibition that explores the artists’ dialogue with the natural world, is currently on display at the Greater Reston Arts Center through Nov. 26. The exhibition is sponsored by Nature’s Best Magazine. In coordination with the exhibition, GRACE will offer a multi-age workshop, Combining Forces: Exploring Art and Nature, Nov. 19, 10 a.m.-noon. Tour GRACE’s current exhibition, “Three Perspectives on the Natural World”, with the curator and examine Nature Exhibits with a naturalist from the Walker Nature Education Center. The program will include an opportunity to make your own art in a workshop with the artists.
