Girl Scout Troop 883 is collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets to assist in the One Warm community service effort. Coats of all shapes and sizes are welcome and children’s sizes are most needed. Bring the donation, Nov.12, Franklin Farm Giant, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The coats will be given to Reston Interfaith Winter Coat Closet and Fairfax Area Christian Emergency and Transitional Services for distribution.
Orphan Foundation of America is a Reston-based organization that provides scholarships and offers mentors to parentless teens leaving foster care. Passionate individuals are needed to work on tasks including reviewing student and mentor applications, contacting applicants by mail, phone or e-mail, making files, etc. Volunteers are also needed to help with development by researching foundations and organizations, preparing solicitation packets and other tasks.
