Samantha Sara Goldman of Potomac has graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. Samantha was the recipient of the President's Award for Undergraduate Research. She received the award for her thesis, "Self Discipline Predicts Academic Performance in Low-Achieving Adolescents." She was also the recipient of the Morris Viteless Award which recognizes the best honors thesis in Psychology. Goldman was also the founder and President of "Star's Club," an organization that tutors young students who have been "left behind." Goldman graduated from Charles E. Smith Jewish Day school in 2000.

The Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning, an agency of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, will honor Rabbi Jacob I. Halpern, Ph.D, May 31, at 7:30 p.m. at Ring House, 1801 E. Jefferson St., Rockville, for his 25 years of leadership to Graduate Programs in Jewish Education established at universities in Washington, D.C.
