Girl Scouts from Service Unit 33-3, based around Potomac Village, participated in the unit's first annual Camp Skills Day at the Robert McDonnell Campground in Cabin John Regional Park on Sunday, May 15. Juniors — fourth and fifth-graders — taught fire safety, cooking, campsite cleaning and other skills to Brownies--first, second and thrid-grade students.
The 90 scouts set up in six different campsites and had several teaching sessions before putting them to use by cooking an evening meal.
Event coordinator Melanie Mason said the event was a tremendous success and that she hoped the unit would continue it into the future.
