The Trumpet Vine Theatre Company at Theater on the Run will give preview performances of its upcoming play, "Hidden: A Gender," on Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. The play, written by playwright, author and performance artist Kate Bornstein, offers a satirical examination of gender formation. Signature Theatre presents the Washington premiere of "10 Unknowns," an explosive drama about what happens when art, fame, and integrity collide, by award-winning playwright Jon Robin Baitz. Arlington Artist Alliance hosts a week full of Art this spring with ArtFest 2005. The events, workshops, demonstrations and performances will be held from Friday, April 1, to Friday, April 8, at Fort C.F. Smith, in and around historic Hendry House, at 2411 N. 24th St. Opening the festivities will be Friday night's reception and multimedia exhibit of works by some of the area's most prominent artists and art teachers. Ceramics, poetry, music, painting, drawing and the continuing exhibition all contribute to a full calendar of activities, which are open to the public. Some activities are workshops with instruction, others are performances or demonstrations and may require registration or fees. Many are free. Children and adults alike can participate. The Children’s Theatre Presents "Robin Hood" at the Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre, 125 S. Old Glebe Road. "The Giggle Fest," presented by Classika Theatre, 4041 S. 28th St., through April 24, Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. A series of three original mime productions: "The Magic Balloon" runs through March 27 and uses music, ballet, clowning and audience participation to tell the story of a traveling actor and his magical trunk of tricks and toys. "The Misadventures of Dr. Frank-n-Flubber" runs April 2-10 and uses physical comedy, illusions and outrageous visual tricks and props to tell the story of a wacky scientist and his dream creation. "The Music Box" runs April 16-24 and uses physical comedy and music to tell short stories of a mischievous mask, an invisible wall, two cowboys in the Wild West and road workers trying to catch a butterfly.

Marymount University's Barry Art Gallery will showcase the Annual Student Art and Design Exhibition from March 30 through April 30. The opening reception will be Tuesday, April 5 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and the public is invited to attend at no charge. The American Century Theater celebrates its 10th season by performing Orson Welles' "Moby Dick Rehearsed," the play that first gained the company widespread fame. The show runs March 24-April 30. Performances are Wednesday-Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., with 2:30 p.m. matinees on April 3, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 30. Performances are at Theater II, Gunston Arts Center, 2700 S. The 2005 Miss Virginia American Coed Scholarship State Pageant is looking for contestants for the Aug. 11-14 pageant in Richmond, Va. This is an "All Natural" scholarship pageant for girls ages 3-22.
