The Miller family has been losing sleep, collecting Gucci, Chanel, Jacques Fath, Halston and Hermes dresses and accessories.
Amanda Miller and her sisters, Amy Burns and Allyson Ruscitella, their brother, Jay Miller, and his fiancé, Julie Rasmussen, are scanning e-Bay, sewing and printing paper dresses and putting the finishing touches on the upcoming designer fashion show, "Vintage & Vine."
The sacrifice, after all, is well worth their time. It marks the first fund-raiser held in memory and in honor of their mother, Beth Miller, 62, who died of cancer Nov. 13. Now their father is facing a similar battle.
They are organizing the Loudoun Healthcare Foundation gala, featuring clothing from the 1940s-1970s. Proceeds will go toward Loudoun Healthcare’s cancer center, slated to open in April. Beth Miller was named honorary chairman. She served for a decade on the Loudoun Healthcare board of directors.
Her children have persuaded an international modeling agency, New Faces Models, to fly 28 models in from New York City at their own expense. The business is owned by Kathy Camisa-Goetz. The CitiColor Hair Studio, Chantecaille Cosmetics and Allure Jewels will work with the models.
The event is scheduled at Lansdowne Resort on Saturday, April 9 from 7 p.m.-midnight. A few individual tickets are still available at $300 each, call 703-771-2801.
