The Herndon High School Student Government Association, led by treasure Andrew Blum, organized an effort to raise funds for victims of the tsunami in Southeastern Asia.
In addition to organizing a corporate donation drive and a student penny war, a faculty basketball game was also created.
The game added to the existing funds totaling more than $1,000, while allowing HHS's faculty to show off their basketball skills.
In a recap of the game — the Eastside Ballers vs. the Westside Bojanglers — the Eastside Ballers came out victorious.
The game was highlighted by Anthony "Hightower" Harris' 21 points, and Elizabeth "The Duchess" Ferguson's three
straight baskets and then a steal and assists to get the Bojanglers a huge lead.
However the Ballers fought back by forcing turnovers, some missed free throws and hitting big three pointers.
A final tip in by Patrick "The Irishman" Moylan, resulted in a storming of the court by all on the victorious Ballers team.
The Special Education and English departments supplied spirited cheerleaders to support the players.
Funds raised will go to help the victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia and the hope is the game will become an annual event for needy causes that arise.
