The Washington Regional Transplant Consortium's Donor Family Council offers scholarships to area high school seniors. Participants must follow the rules and submit an essay (maximum 1,000 words) about organ and tissue donation on the theme, "Organ & Tissue Donation: Persuade Someone to Give the Gift of a Lifetime." * The Joanne Craig Cook Memorial Scholarship, a $4,000 scholarship for a student pursuing a degree in education. This one-time scholarship has been donated by the Cook Family in her memory.
* A $1,000 annual scholarship presented by the Vienna Woman’s Club. These scholarships are awarded in May, and applications are available in the career centers of James Madison, Oakton, George Marshall, Thomas Jefferson, Paul VI and Flint Hill High Schools. Madison High School student Lizzy Bonfield was honored recently as the winning designer of the new logo for the school's All-Night Graduation Celebration. Her design, representing this year's theme, "Warhawk Roadtrip 2005," was chosen from more than 50 creative entries submitted.
