Arriving just days before the first heat wave of the summer, Springfield Days began with the "Miss Springfield" pageant and ended with the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Accotink Park. The park also hosted a Heritage Day to celebrate its 45th anniversary and history, including Civil War reenactors, American Indian cooking and craft demonstrations, and livestock. Springfield Plaza also played host to a flea market on Saturday, and the Braddock Nights and Kingstowne Nights concert series got underway for the season.
