Couples Try Their Hand at Reading Their Mates

Newlywed Game at Senior Center draws lots of laughs.

There was a lot of kissing and telling going on last week at the Hollin Hall Senior Center. Five couples playing the Newlywed Game tried to see how well they knew each other. Following the format of the once popular television show, couples were separated and asked questions like: “Will your partner say that: He’s a better lover than he looks or he looks like a better lover than he is?” “When the two of you kiss, will your partner say you do or do not keep your eyes open?” “When you and your partner kissed for the very first time, will he say you were: sitting, standing, lying down?” “Will your partner say he prefers his potatoes: mashed, fried or baked?” and “Who will your partner say led more of a ‘wild life’ before the two of you got together: you or her?” Their mates then had to answer the same question and if their answers matched they received points. The couple with the most points won.

For the bonus round, couples had to correctly identify the date of their wedding, the name of the place and the name of the person who officiated the wedding.

Participating in this fun event was: Maye and Roy Barnard; Ruby and Gerry Grant; Ann & Grant Fulkerson; Hanne and Allan Knoch; and Julie and Keith Ellis. Barbara Sullivan emceed the event and Elaine Throm kept score. Ann and Grant Fulkerson took first place, while Julie and Keith Ellis came in second.
