The Rotary Club of Vienna is initiating an elementary school teacher mini-grant program totaling $3,000 for special classroom projects to individual teachers of grades kindergarten through sixth within the nine Vienna elementary schools. Included in this pioneering program are Freedom Hill, Stenwood, Westbriar, Cunningham Park, Flint Hill, Louise Archer, Marshall Road, Vienna and Wolftrap Elementary Schools. Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. sponsors the Long & Foster Scholarship Program, awarding $1,000 to each of 200 recipients for the 2005-06 academic year. The monetary scholarship award will be made payable directly to the college or university in the student's name. The deadline for applying is March 1, and the scholarships will be awarded in the beginning of April 2005. Eligible high school seniors must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate leadership and financial need, indicate positions of leadership and list all school groups and/or community organizations in which they have served or been involved, and any part-time job held while in school.
