<sh>Crash Victim Dies
<bt>A woman who was critically injured in a Christmas Day crash died this week. Juli Ann Woodbury, 48, of Alexandria, was pronounced dead on Monday, Jan. 3, at 10:36 p.m. at Washington Hospital Center.
The accident, which was alcohol-related, occurred just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 25, at the intersection of North Beauregard and North Armistead streets. The victim was riding in a 1991 Toyota Celica that was traveling south on North Beauregard Street when the driver lost control and
struck a tree.
The driver, Juan Jose Torres Majia, was not injured. Torres Majia, 26, of 432 North Armistead St., in Alexandria, was arrested. He was charged that day with driving while intoxicated (second offense) and is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail. Additional charges are
pending due to the death of the victim. This is the third traffic fatality in Alexandria in 2004.
<sh>Police Investigate Stabbing
<bt>On Jan. 4 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a 42-year-old Alexandria man was stabbed by a known suspect. Police and medic units were called to an apartment building in the 4200 block of Duke Street and discovered the victim suffering from a stab wound.
Officers began to search the area and were able to apprehend the suspect a short distance away. The suspect, a 49-year-old male city resident, was taken into custody and is being questioned by detectives. A motive has not yet been determined and this case still remains under investigation.
The victim was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.
