Chiyoko Koizumi, 88, died Dec. 22, peacefully at home in Reston where she resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Luci Koizumi, for the past 12 years. She is also survived by her younger son, Roy, and his wife, Carol; daughter, Ann, and her husband, Steve; four grandchildren and one great grandson. Koizumi was born in California, where the family operated a truck farm and formerly lived in Chicago, where they moved after interment camp in Arkansas during World War II. After her husband died in 1964, she worked as a contact lens technician and rented rooms in her home to University of Chicago students. After she moved to Reston, she enjoyed gardening and helping care for the family's cats and kittens. Private services will be held in Chicago, where she was a long-time member of the Buddhist Temple of Chicago.
