Cadet Ryan Thompson successfully passed the newly assigned personnel tests and is now a full-fledged member of the Corps of Cadets. Navy Midshipman Andrew R. Christ, son of Amy and Richard Christ of Clifton, recently reported for duty aboard the amphibious transport dock U.S.S. Duluth, homeported in San Diego. Christ is a 2003 graduate of Centreville High School of Clifton.
Gavin C. McCorry has entered basic cadet training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. The six-week, two-phased orientation program trains men and women to meet the rigorous mental and physical challenges of a cadet. McCorry is the son of Dan and Robin McCorry of Clifton. He is a 2004 graduate of Centreville High School.
Anh-Luan H. Huynh has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Huynh is the son of Jeffrey H. Huynh and Tam T. Truong of Fairfax. He is a 2001 graduate of Chantilly High School.
Navy Ensign Jeanne H. Cameron, daughter of retired Navy Capt. Gerald and Bonnie Cameron of Centreville, recently began her first year as a medical student at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Services, Bethesda, Md. Cameron has also been commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy after earning her medical degree. Cameron is a 2000 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School of Alexandria.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Gabriel A. Jones has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Jones is the son of Mike and Diane Jones of Fairfax. He graduated in the year 2000 from Chantilly High School.
Marine Corps Capt. Aaron P. Shelley, a 1992 graduate of James W. Robinson Secondary School, and more than 2,100 marines and sailors assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), have been working in Najaf, Iraq, after fighting in the city since Aug. 28. Members of the 11th MEU have the goal of restoring normalcy for the citizens of Najaf. Their immediate concerns are preparing schools for Iraq's children along with the reconstruction of hospitals, roads and bridges.
Air Force Airman Gursimran S. Shergill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Manjit and Gursharn Shergill of Centreville. Shergill is a 2004 graduate of Westfield High School, Chantilly.
Garrett M. Ianacone has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Officer Training School (OTS) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala. He is the son of Bruce G. Ianacone of Clifton. The lieutenant graduated in 1994 from Paul VI High School, and earned a bachelor's degree in 1999 from James Madison University.
Marine Corps Capt. Aaron P. Shelley, a 1992 graduate of James W. Robinson Secondary School, Fairfax, and more than 2,100 Marines and Sailors assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), recently joined the 15,000 servicemember sweep of Fallujah, and has since committed to ensuring the security and stability in the cities Kandari and Nasar Wa Salam.
Army Reserve Pvt. Curtis D. Carter has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Carter is the son of Kathy Carter of Stillwater, Okla., and David Carter of Chantilly. In 2004, the soldier graduated from Stillwater High School.

Acevedo, son of June D. and Edward Acevedo of Fairfax, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif., and was meritoriously promoted to his current rank. Acevedo is a 2004 graduate of Southwest Preparatory High School of San Antonio, Texas.

Im is the daughter of Keun Im and Sun Eui Im of Fairfax. She is a 2000 graduate of Chantilly High School, and a 2004 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.
Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Peter Moon, son of Mina Kim Choi of Centreville, recently graduated from the Combat Engineer Officer Course. Moon joined the Marine Corps in April 1997.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Edward J. Nowlin, son of Margaret L. and Edward D. Nowlin of Fairfax, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training and was meritoriously promoted to his current rank at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Nowlin is a 2004 graduate of Chantilly High School.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. John D. Cox, son of Donna Bradford of Centreville, is a member of the U. S. Air Force Band, one of several military ceremonial units stationed in the nation's capital responsible for providing ceremonial support to the inauguration and many of the following festivities.
Cox is a member of the U. S. Air Force Band "Ceremonial Brass," and performed in the inaugural festivities. He is a 1988 graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School, Burke.
Marine Corps Reserve Pfc. Joseph S. Brown, a 2002 graduate of A. D. Fontes High School, Centreville, recently completed the Basic Electrician's Course. During the course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Utilities Instruction Company, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C., students receive instruction on the repair and maintenance of generators, transformers and power lines. Brown joined the Marine Corps Reserve in May 2004.
Marine Corps Pfc. Cristian E. Leon, a 2002 graduate of Westfield High School, Chantilly, recently completed the Basic Electrician's Course and was selected academic honor graduate. During the course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Utilities Instruction Company, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C, students receive instruction on safety, electrical theory, generator operation, preventive maintenance and field electrical systems installation. Leon is a 2002 graduate of Westfields High School of Chantilly, and joined the Marine Corps in May 2004.
Marine Corps Pfc. Joshua R. Sokolowski, son of Charlene K. Kucera of Centreville, recently completed the Basic Assault Amphibian Vehicle Crewman's Course. During the course with Assault Amphibian School Battalion, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif, students prepare for assignment to assault amphibian units where landing crafts are used to transport troops and supplies from ship to beachhead for subsequent operations ashore. Sokolowski is a 2004 graduate of Westfield High School of Chantilly, and joined the Marine Corps in June 2004.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Daniel J. Osterberg, son of Kathleen Osterberg of Sterling, Va. and Robert Osterberg of Centreville, Va., recently graduated from Operations Specialist School. During the course at Training Support Center Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach, Va., Osterberg learned to operate surveillance and search radars, recognize and identify electronic signals, control aircraft approach devices and operate electronic navigation systems. The curriculum is designed to prepare operations specialists for duty in a shipboard combat information center or at a shore-based fleet training center. Osterberg is a 2004 graduate of Potomac Falls High School of Sterling, Va.
