Valentine's Day at Fairview Elementary was all about the heart. Students at the Fairfax Station school took part in a variety of heart-related activities, including a "Jump Rope for Heart" fund-raiser for the American Heart Association.
Students raised money through donations for the event, then spent two hours Monday afternoon jumping rope in a variety of stations in the school gymnasium. The event also featured a jump rope demonstration from former Fairview student Ian Stanchi and his sister Emily, who both attend Robinson Secondary.
The Inova Fairfax Hospital Bloodmobile was also on hand for two hours in the afternoon for a blood drive, and students made valentines which were delivered to the Heatherwood Retirement Community in Burke.
