<sh>Shooting in Reston

<bt>A 26-year-old Reston area man was shot in the upper body after a home invasion on Monday, Feb. 7, at around 2:30 a.m., after the victim answered a knock on the door at his apartment in the 2300 block of Freetown Court. Entering the apartment, two suspects demanded money from a 25-year-old Reston area woman who was in the apartment. The suspects left the apartment without taking any money, and ran away in an unknown direction. The shooting victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was not injured.

The first suspect was described as black, around 20 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 185 pounds. He was wearing black pants, a black coat, and a black mask. The second suspect is described as a 17-year-old black female, 5 feet 4 inches tall. <sh>Meetings on Toll Road proposal

<bt>The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) proposed a toll increase on the Dulles Toll Road to raise funds for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. In light of the proposal, a meeting was scheduled to give the public a chance to be heard by the CTB. The proposal suggests an increase of 25 cents at the tolls, totaling 50 cents on ramps, and 75 cents at the toll plaza. The CTB will consider the increase at its Feb. 17 meeting. Supervisor Cathy Hudgins (D-Hunter Mill) will host a meeting in the Community Room of the North County Governmental Center on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The Center is located at 12000 Bowman Towne Drive.

<sh>GI's Life in Cold War Germany

<bt>Reston Community Center's Senior Academy will host a showing of "A GI's Heidelberg," by Bob Webb, an amateur film maker. In the mid-1950s, Webb was drafted by the U.S. Army and sent to Heidelberg, Germany. The 45-minute film tells of a soldier's life in Cold War Germany, while also capturing the beauty of historic Heidelberg. The showing will take place Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 2-3:30 p.m., at RCC Lake Anne, and will be followed by a discussion led by Bob Webb. The program is for people age 55 and older. The registration fee is $5 for Reston residents, and $10 for all others. For further information call the RCC at 703-476-4500.

<sh>Valentine's Day Concert

<bt>An ensemble of 12 middle-school students from the Langston Hughes Advanced Orchestra will perform a selection of light classical and popular music at Reston Community Center Lake Anne. The concert is free, and will take place Monday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
