The tsunami relief fundraiser at Langley High School was officially over more than a week ago, but donations continue to trickle in, bringing the current total to over $20,000.
Leah Glantz, the student who organized the fundraiser, said $20,586.39 had been collected as of Friday. Schools in Fairfax County have been closed for teacher work days Monday and Tuesday, so there is another $1,000 waiting for her when classes resumed Wednesday. The school had set a goal of raising $30,000 for tsunami relief.
“We’re hoping to send the money out by the end of this week,” Glantz said. The money will be donated to International Relief and Development Inc. Anyone who made a pledge during the Langley/McLean basketball game on Tuesday, Jan. 18 but has not sent their pledge in to the school is encouraged to do so this week.
