A Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputy was hit by a truck door while making a traffic stop on the side of Route 7 west in Leesburg Monday morning.
Deputy Jackson Clark was standing on the step of a commercial truck writing a summons for a violation when a 2005 Hyundai hit the truck’s opened door, said Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell.
"The Hyundai crossed the white line on the side of the road and hit the door. The door flew forward and then came back, hitting the deputy," Troxell said.
The Hyundai driver did not stop after hitting the truck’s door. The Hyundai was spotted minutes down the road by another investigator who heard what had happened over the radio. He was arrested and charged with a hit-and-run felony and reckless driving, Troxell said.
The deputy was taken to the hospital for precautionary purposes, but did not suffer any injuries.
