Candlelight tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and samples of colonial foods cooked on the hearth put visitors in a festive holiday spirit last weekend at Gunston Hall Plantation.
Participants in “A Plantation Christmas” also enjoyed fiddling, 18th century dancing and seasonal pastimes as portrayed by the docents. By the time the weekend was over, hundreds of visitors had toured George Mason’s home and warmed themselves by the roaring fires.
Those who partook of the Holiday Buffet were treated to a generous selection of traditional fare. Once again the buffet table was bedecked with sparkling lights, glimmering holiday trees and festive decorations.
