The Arlington Agency on Aging and the Arlington Commission on Aging are continuing their outreach campaign to educate Arlington's older residents, their caregivers, and the professionals who serve them regarding the new Medicare prescription drug benefit (Medicare Part D), which starts January 1, 2006. All Medicare beneficiaries will need to learn about Medicare Part D this year, so that they can make a decision whether or not to take this option. People with lower incomes may qualify for "Extra Help," which could assist them in paying the premiums, deductibles, and co-pays for Medicare Part D. To learn more about Medicare Part D, plan to attend one of these informal question and answer sessions, "Ask a Medicare Specialist," Sept. 1, 13, or 29, 1:30 p.m. at the Warren G. SCAT, Senior Center Adult Transportation, is a taxi service for Arlington seniors, 55 and older, to go to senior centers for a roundtrip cost of $4. Senior Travel. The county's Office of Senior Adult Programs (OSAP) offers a variety of travel opportunities and day excursions throughout the year. Trips range in price from $8-$80 and include theaters, museums, sports, outlet shopping, casinos and historic sites. Overnight trips are planned several times a year.
