Paul and Barbara Rodgers of McLean recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in New Orleans with all their children and grandchildren. The couple was married July 1, 1955, in Alabama and then honeymooned in New Orleans. They have three children: Stephen Rodgers (wife Rene) of Leesburg, Marsha King (husband Danny) of Oak Hill, and Mary Long (husband Eric) of Parker, Colo. They also have seven grandchildren: Lauren and Kevin King, Samuel and Grace Rodgers, and Matthew, Sara and Christopher Long.
Dr. James C. Ellenborgen, senior principal scientist at MITRE's Nanosystems Group, has received the Washington Academy of Sciences 2005 Merit and Distiniction in the Engineering Sciences Award. Dr. Ellenborgen received the award for his contributions to molecular electronics and his efforts for more than a decade toward building computers integrated on the nanometer scale. Dr. Ellenborg has also been overseeing MITRE's Summer Student Program for over 15 years.
Gary McCollum, vice president and regional manager for Cox Communications of Northern Virginia, has been named as the recipient of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation Leadership Award which will be presented at the Northern Virginia Community Foundation Gala and Silent Auction Oct. 7 at the McLean Hilton. This award is presented annually for outstanding community service and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Northern Virginians.
