A jury trial date has been set for Daunteril Maurice Hall, charged with beating a Leesburg woman and suspected of killing a Sterling woman eight months later.
Hall was indicted by a grand jury Monday on a charge of felonious aggravated malicious wounding, Commonwealth's Attorney James Plowman said. He has not been charged with the homicide. Plowman said there is no hurry, because Hall is being held without bond and is off the street.
On Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge Burke McCahill set a 9 a.m., Aug. 1 trial date.
Hall, 28, of Sterling, is charged with using his fist and a stick to beat a 29-year-old Leesburg woman on May 23, 2004 in Sterling.
Law enforcement authorities have identified him as the suspect in the murder of Sherine Williams, 24 of Sterling, on Jan. 23, 2005.
Family members found her body after forcing entry into her apartment. Police have not disclosed the cause of her death.
