Flint Hill's Upper School Theater Department will present, "Spofford," April 29 and 30. Written by Herman Shumlin, based on the novel, "Reuben, Reuben," by Peter De Vries, the play is a warm and witty story of a Connecticut farmer in the late 1960s who stands at a crossroads in his life. For years, Spofford has watched with awe as wealthy New Yorkers retreat from the city and move into his rural town of Woodsmoke. The contrast between the new-comers and the old-timers creates a series of comic and heart-warming encounters with Spofford caught in the middle, pulled by both the past and the present.
Sean Clark plays the title role and is supported by Kate Smith-Morse, Melissa Merritt, Kathy Norris, Claire Holman, Andrew Kulak, Virginia Berg, Jen Green, Adam Clark, Erik Magnusson-Odelsteirna, Marguerite Stephan, Clay Childs, Nonnie Mullin, Holly Hicks, Sarah Ball and Alex Robbins.
The director is Carlo Grossman.
The stage managers are Dana Vetter, Julia Korzeniewski, and Lyn Moore. Controlling lights and sound are John Mooney and Stevie Lederer.
