The Annual Herndon Homecoming parade will kick-off Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin on Sterling Road and head down Elden Street towards Town Hall Square, turning left on Lynn Street, passing the Herndon Municipal Center.
This year's theme is "The Town of Herndon Celebrates ..." Town Council, Police Chief Toussaint Summers and Town Manager Steve Owens will serve as judges. Trophies will be awarded in five categories: Civic, School, Show, Performing Arts and Class Floats. There are two overall trophies: Theme Award and The Major Robert E. Church Best in Parade.
The parade will consist of 50 units and 2,000 individuals from area businesses, schools and civic groups. U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, state Sen. Janet Howell, Del. Tom Rust and Supervisor Joan DuBois (R-Hunter Mill) are scheduled to attend.
