<sh>Lorton Boy Robbed
<bt>On Monday, Sept. 27, around 9:45 p.m., a 17-year-old Lorton area boy was robbed of his cellular telephone and his wallet. The victim had exited his car in the 7600 block of Marin Woods Court in the Lorton area when he was approached by a man with a gun. The suspect announced the robbery then struck the victim on the side of his face with a handgun. After a brief struggle, the suspect fled on foot. The robber was described as black, in his late teens, about five-feet-seven-inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. The suspect also had a green bandanna covering his face.
<sh>Burglary in Mount Vernon
<bt>Fairfax County Police are investigating a burglary that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 26, around 3 p.m., at a home in the 8200 block of Mount Vernon Highway in the Alexandria area. The victims are an 83-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman. At the time of the incident the 83-year-old victim was home alone and lured outside of his residence by a man offering a tree cutting service. As the two made it to the rear of the house, another man entered the front door of the house and stole a large amount of cash from inside of the residence. The two suspects were able to leave the residence with an undisclosed amount of cash without the victim realizing what had happened until later. The tree cutting service appeared to be a scam. <sh>Springfield Bank Robbed
<bt>Two masked men armed with a weapon robbed the Springfield area Wachovia Bank. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, about 2:50 p.m., two men, dressed in dark clothing and wearing black ski masks entered the bank located at 6506 Loisdale Road and brandished a weapon as they demanded money. The suspects forced five bank employees into the bank vault and forced three customers to lie on the floor. A bank employee sustained minor injuries after a suspect struck her while demanding cash. There were no other injuries.
One suspect is described as a black male, about five-feet eight-inches tall. The second suspect is described as a black male about six-feet tall. Both wore ski masks and dark clothing. Detectives believe this bank robbery might be related to the two bank robberies which occurred on Aug. 19, in Fairfax County.
<sh>Springfield Man Robbed
<bt>A man was robbed at gunpoint in the Springfield area on Tuesday, Sept. 21. About 9 p.m. a 30-year-old Newington area man was walking east on Barry Road when he was confronted by a man who pointed a gun at him and announced a robbery. The suspect ordered the victim to lie on the ground. He went through the victim’s pockets and removed cash. He also took a watch off the victim’s wrist. No one was injured during this incident. The suspect was wearing a black mask, a gray sweatshirt, and black pants and shoes.
