The Planning Commission went over the following agenda item at their Sept. 20 work session, in preparation for their Oct. 4 public hearing.
Zoning ordinance text amendment #04-09 is a proposal to amend Section 78-807 of the 2000 Herndon Town Code regarding permitted and permissible principal uses and structures. The amendment is to allow, by conditional use permit, storage or warehouse facilities with a dwelling unit in the Planned Development-Industrial Park (PD-IP) zoning district.
Atlantic Reality has applied for the amendment to allow storage or warehouse facilities with a dwelling unit to be permissible, subject to the approval of a conditional use permit to ensure provision will be made to protect health, safety and public welfare of the surrounding landowners. Town staff anticipates that Atlantic Reality will seek to rezone the land between the Sunset Business Park and the Fairfax County Parkway, to PD-IP and obtain the necessary conditional use permit for the development of a self-storage facility.
