Falls Church’s loss is Mount Vernon’s gain. After months of waiting for permit issues to be resolved, The Family Bakery has finally opened in the Cooper Center, at 8733-N Cooper Road.
Nguyen Misen, former owner of Milan Bakery and Miss Doughnut in Falls Church, is running the bakery with his wife, Lien Nguyen. While he has not started making doughnuts yet, the rest of the racks are filled with tarts, éclairs, canolis, turnovers, petit fours, croissants and mini coffee cakes.
They also have freshly baked bagels, baguettes, rolls and breads. Wedding and special occasion cakes can also be ordered in eight different flavors. Several flavors of Green Mountain coffee will be served and there are several tables for customers.
Misen is pleased with their new space. He said that they had a big crowd for the grand opening and have been busy since then. “The people who came are happy that we are here. So far, so good,” he said.
