Two Potomac girls were robbed in the parking lot of the Avenel Swim Club on Sept. 5, say Montgomery County Police.
The police gave the following account of the incident:
At about 10:45 p.m., the girls, both 16, were talking in the parking lot of the swim club on Oaklyn Drive. A dark-colored SUV, occupied by several people entered the lot on two separate occasions and left.
A few minutes after the SUV left the second time, three males, their faces partially concealed by their t-shirts approached the girls.
One of the three men was armed with a handgun. The suspects took the victims' cell phones, cash and jewelry.
At this time, police do not know if the SUV was involved in the crime. "If anyone has seen this SUV, maybe they didn't realize at first, but now that they know what happened, they'll realize," said Derek Baliles, spokesperson for Montgomery County Police.
After the incident the girls returned to their homes where they contacted police at approximately 11 p.m.
The first suspect is described as a teenage black male, 5-feet-10 inches tall wearing jeans, sneakers and a white t-shirt, armed with a small, black handgun. The second suspect is described as a short, thin teenaged black male wearing a black t-shirt. The third suspect is described as a black male wearing dark clothing.
