Navy Ensign Jeanne H. Cameron recently began her first year as a medical student at the Uniformed Services University of Health Services, Bethesda, Md. Cameron is a 2000 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.
Daniel J. Belzer graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Belzer is the son of Judi A. and Richard B. Belzer of Alexandria, and a 2000 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.
Army Pfc. Maxwell J. Perez has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to engage in military operations involving U.S. and coalition forces. Perez, a common ground station operator, is the son of Lucy C. Callaghan of Alexandria. He is a 2002 graduate of Thomas Edison High School.
Leadership Fairfax will host the eighth Annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards Gala at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. Sharon Kelso, former Executive Director of United Community Ministries (UCM) will receive the Special Recognition Award for her many years of service and dedication to the community. Although Sharon Kelso has retired to Las Vegas, she will be on hand to receive this honor.
The Northern Virginia Leadership Awards (NVLA) were established to recognize individuals and groups who have made a difference in the Northern Virginia community through their vision, innovation, courage, inspiration and commitment. Sharon worked for United Community Ministries for 24 years and was its Executive Director for 20 years.
Army Reserve Sgt. Maj. Golden L. Giddings has graduated from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Nonresident Course at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Giddings, an ammunitions supervisor, is assigned to the 55th Material Management Center, Fort Belvoir. She is the sister of Dorothy M. Winder-Robert of Alexandria. The sergeant major received an associate degree in 1990 from Northern Virginia Community College and earned a bachelor's degree in 1998 from Park College, Fort Meyer, Va.
