Arthur Anselene, director of parks and recreation for the Town of Herndon, was recently elected to join 125 selected individuals as a Fellow into the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration.
To be eligible for election into the professional academy, under the auspices of the National Recreation and Park Association, individuals are required to have held a high level administration position with a park and recreation agency for over 15 years, demonstrated outstanding ability in administration and management within the park and recreation profession, be 48nd have provided leadership in the profession and demonstrated a desire to contribute to the achievements of parks and recreation.
As a newly elected Fellow, Anselene joins 100 professionals and 25 educators nationwide working toward the goal to advance the field of knowledge relative to the park and recreation administration as well as enlarge scholarly efforts to enhance park and recreation services and conduct and promote research to the advancement of parks and recreation.
Anselene has been the director of parks and recreation for the town for more than 28-years and had led the parks and recreation department to the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. He is an active member of the Herndon Rotary, Herndon Optimist Club, and the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts.
