The following incidents were reported by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
<cal1>Theft from a Motor Vehicle
<lst>46900 block Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling. Nov. 11, 12:01 a.m.-Nov. 12, 11:59 p.m., unknown subject(s) entered a vehicle and removed a compact-disc car stereo. The item was removed from a client's vehicle, which was left at a service station. Value: $200.
<cal1>Larceny
<lst>46900 block Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling. Nov. 11, 12:01 a.m.-Nov. 12, 11:59 p.m., unknown subject(s) removed five air tools from a business. There was no sign of forced entry. Value: $1,600.
<cal1>Hit and Run
<lst>Palisade Parkway/Cascades Parkway, Sterling. Nov. 12, 8:30 p.m., a 17-year-old Sterling juvenile was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and reckless driving. The juvenile allegedly struck a 2003 Honda CRV that was stopped at a red light at the intersection. The 17-year-old, who was driving a Ford Contour, left the scene. The victim followed the juvenile to a nearby parking lot where the Sheriff's Office responded.
<cal1>Theft from a Building
<lst>Bruce Court, Lovettsville. Nov. 12, 8:11 p.m., Juan Carlos Fuentes, 24, of Washington, D.C., is alleged to have entered a home under construction and removed a refrigerator and a stove. He was found fleeing from the home and charged with grand larceny and entering a property with intent to damage. Fuentes was held on an $8,000 secured bond. Value Recovered: $2,600.
<cal1>Possession of a Stolen Auto/
Hit and Run
<lst>Fillmore Avenue/Fletcher Road, Sterling. Nov. 12, 11:55 p.m., Israel Cruz Escobar, 18, of Rockville, Md., was charged after they fled the scene of an accident. The victim says he was stopped at the intersection when a minivan struck his vehicle. The subjects in the vehicle fled the scene. The minivan was found to be stolen from Maryland. Escobar was apprehended near the scene and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and drunk in public. The incident remains under investigation.
<cal1>Destruction of Property
<lst>40 block Quincy Court, Sterling. Nov. 12, 9 p.m.-Nov. 13, 10 a.m., unknown subject(s) scratched the car door of a vehicle possibly with a key. Value: $500.
<cal1>Attempt to Elude a Police Officer
<lst>160 block Sulgrave Court, Sterling. Nov. 13, 12:09 p.m., a deputy on routine patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on east bound Route 7 at George Washington Boulevard after it ran a red light. The vehicle continued to drive along Route 7 before turning onto Loudoun Tech Boulevard and then into Waterview Plaza where it stopped. The driver, Grant Winstead, 42, of Ashburn, was charged. A summons was also issued for disregarding a red light.
<cal1>DUI/Eluding
<lst>George Washington Boulevard, Ashburn. Nov. 13, 8:33 p.m., Thomas Joseph Henry, 39, of Woodbridge, was
charged with driving under the influence and eluding a police officer. A deputy on routine patrol observed Thomas' vehicle cross over the centerline on Loudoun County Parkway forcing the deputy to move out of the way. After initiating a traffic stop the vehicle continued to drive crossing Route 7 and onto Presidential Drive and did not stop until a parking lot on Bar Harbor Terrace. The driver was charged with driving under the influence and eluding.
<cal1>Weapon Law Violations
<lst>44100 block Allderwood Trail, Ashburn. Nov. 14, 5:06 a.m., deputies were called to a residence at 5:41 a.m. for a report of a shooting complaint. Approximately 33 minutes earlier the complainant heard a gunshot outside. Inside the residence he found one of the windows of the residence to be damaged and a bullet lying on the carpet. The residence, a townhouse, faces Gloucester Parkway. The bullet appeared to have hit something before striking the window of the residence. The incident is under investigation.
<cal1>Burglary
<lst>900 block Argonne Avenue, Sterling. Nov. 14, 4:30 p.m.-Nov. 15, 12:20 a.m., unknown subject(s) entered a residence and removed a computer, a camera, DVD players and other electronic equipment. There were no signs of forced entry. Value: $2,660.
<cal1>Missile at an Occupied Dwelling
<lst>Mulberry Street, Round Hill. Nov. 9, 9 a.m., unknown subject(s) threw a pipe through the front window of a residence. A green Pontiac was seen in the area at the time of the incident. Value: $200.
<cal1>Fatal Construction Accident
<lst>25500 block Falling Cedars Court, Arcola. Nov. 9, 10 a.m., Fidel Ruiz, 26, of Maryland, lost his life after he fell more than 20 feet from a second-level floor joist. Ruiz was believed to have been taking a measurement when he lost his balance. He was taken to Fair Oaks Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
<cal1>Pursuit
<lst>Sterling Boulevard/Beech Road, Sterling. Nov. 9, 10:33 p.m., Warren Kim Savage, 41, of Sterling, was arrested after a deputy on routine patrol initiated a traffic stop for speeding. Savage continued to drive his vehicle on Sterling Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it turned onto Garfield Road and then into a driveway. Savage was charged with reckless driving and failing to stop when signaled to
do so. A Loudoun Magistrate released him on a personal recognizance bond.
