Clifford, the Big Red Dog, visited Forest Edge Elementary School Oct. 20, to help distribute books to students through the schoolÕs RIF (Reading is Fundamental) Program, a federally funded program which allows students to choose books that interest them.
Elizabeth Lockwood of Reston has begun her first year at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass., the oldest college for women. Lockwood is the daughter of Charles and Karen Lockwood. She is a graduate of South Lakes High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, was named a National Merit Commended Scholar, and received the United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award. Lockwood was also the captain of her varsity tennis team, was senior class vice president and president of the South Lakes Singers. As a United Church of Christ National Synod delegate, she represented the Central Atlantic Conference in a meeting held in Minneapolis.
Sara Marie OÕMahoney, a freshman majoring in industrial design in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Paige Eilenberg, a junior majoring in music industry in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, both of Reston, are among the 150 students that make up the Pride of the Orange Marching Band at Syracuse University. The band plays at all of the schoolÕs home games and travels with the football team when it plays in a post-season bowl game.
